Making Hot Glue Embellishments.

These are some of the hot glue embellishments that I have made to use for my scrap-booking.

Mannequin Doll Template.

I worked on a glass sheet that I had.
Because I am working on a glass sheet I can turn it around. 

I taped the template onto the glass 

I taped wax paper over the template.
sheet with painter’s tape. 

Hint: I keep my glue gun in an empty tape dispenser.

This glue gun and sticks are available from Dollar-stores, but if you are planning to use a glue-gun more often, I suggest getting a better one. 

I use this ArtMinds™ Mini Glue Gun, Stylish Pattern, which works even better for me. 

Heat gun for at least 5 minutes. Have glue sticks ready. When the glue gun was hot enough, I traced the design with Hot glue on top of the wax paper. I find it very relaxing to trace the lines. Wait for the glue to harden.
Hint: Melt away the glue gun strings with a hairdryer. Soak the clock in water to remove it from the wax-paper and clean the back with Rubbing alcohol, to remove the last bits of paper. Use tweezers to remove stubborn pieces of paper from inside the holes. I covered the glue with layers of acid-free paint. Please note, do not use Hot glue for photos, the heat and acidity can harm your photos.

  HINT: I use flexible plastic cutting board sheets for working with hot glue. I spray them with cooking spray and drop hot glue on them for making faux wax seals, pebble accents, etc. A few hours later I just peel them off.

I created one 12"x 12" page. My inspiration was Witching you a Merry Christmas by Cheryl Lindsay from Murrieta, California, U.S.A. in the Nov/Dec 2016  Somerset Studio magazine.

 

  Some of the supplies and tools I used were: Patterned paper Pizzaz sheets by Hot off the press, Walnut Ink Tsuneko, Clear Scraps-Mascils-12 x 12 Masking Stencil-Sprockets Gears, Clear Scraps-Mascils -12 x 12 Masking Stencil-Cog Wheels, alphabet stamps, card-stock, hot glue, glue gun acrylic paint, Tombow adhesive, eye-shadow applicators, ink-pads, wood alphabet and number, Hairspray, black mist spray etc.

Soak the embellishments  in water to remove it from the wax-paper and clean the back with Rubbing alcohol, to remove the last bits of paper. Use tweezers to remove stubborn pieces of paper from inside the holes.

Lace Masquerade Masks.

I made some Lace Masquerade Masks, with netting and hot glue.

As suggested in the video, I used Wax paper instead of Cling wrap.

I worked on a glass sheet that I had. These are some of the templates I used.

When I was satisfied, I removed the template and wax paper, I cut the mask out and the eyes open. I soaked the mask in hot water and molded it onto a brass mask that I have, you can also do it on your face.

 

I balanced the mask on a matchbox to paint.

I used a paintbrush and acrylic paint.

I decorated the mask with ribbon, feathers, sequins and Ranger Ink - Stickles Glitter Glue - Black Diamond.

Mono-printed Tags.

 

 I made a few tags to try out mono-printing, which I think will be great for making customized backgrounds. I don't have a gelatine plate and although one can make them, I thought I would first experiment the technique with what I have, to see if I like it. 

"Also known as the most painterly method among the printmaking techniques , a monoprint is essentially a printed painting. The characteristic of this method is that no two prints are alike; although images can be similar, editioning is not possible."- Monoprints.com

Add many layers of paint for texture, I ended with the colors that I wanted. I love the texture. Remember to clean all tools and supplies as soon as possible.

Some of the supplies and tools I used were:

Kaisercraft - Stencils Template - Clock I put down the stencil upside down.

 Clear Scraps - Mascils - 12 x 12 Masking Stencil - Sprockets Gears.

Possible large stencils/masks at reach in a magazine holder.

Possible smaller stencils/masks ready in a magazine holder.

A Rolling pin, covered with cling wrap (The cling wrap also adds a nice texture) Good quality card-stock (The card-stock did get wet and flaked a bit), a tag template, (Avery Manifold Inventory Tag 6.25 x 3.12-Inches), foam mat, Stencils/masks, scrap paper, acrylic paint in many colors,  paper trimmer, pencil, ink-pad, fibers, small hole punch, eye-shadow applicator, a glass-sheet (To work on) Garbage bag, paper towel, etc.



I worked on a foam mat. You can also work on a glass sheet or silicone sheet. Squirt a few drops of different colored paint onto the mat and spread with a rolling pin.

 

I used a rolling pin covered with cling-wrap, but you can also use a brayer.

I worked on a green glass sheet to protect my table. Press the card down onto the paint, smooth down lightly and remove carefully.

Have an area ready for paint covered tools and supplies. Place stencils on top of the paint mixture and cover with card-stock.

I used a piece of scrap paper over the card-stock, as the tag did get wet.
