Favourite Bookmarks.

I recently made a private page on Google Sites., for my favourite bookmarks, which I find very handy. I can click on the Icons and it takes me to where I want to be. I can easily edit them and add or remove them as I wish.

Camper Art Kit.

This is my bag for supplies and tools, which I pack in our camper. It is esepeciily handy when it's cold or rainy outside. As I am doing mostly art journaling, watercolors, acrylics, etc. at the moment, I haven't packed scrapbooking supplies like photo-corners, etc.

The open bag shows most of the contents. There's lot more room.

Red pencil case fits in the big bag's side pocket with Sharpeners, pencils, erasers, etc.

These and more fit in the big bag.

Pencil pouches, watercolor palette, palette, stamping supplies, etc. fit in the blue lunch bag. I find it handy that the pouches are see through, the same size and flat, The pencil pouches are from Dollarama.

I use a Fiskars Scrap Book Craft Bag Case Album Tool Tote for my books, big stencils, card-stock, 

patterned papers, etc.

Sketching paper, coloring books, reference books, collage papers, tracing paper, watercolor paper, courier bag (see next) journals, sketch books, card-stock, etc

.

   

 

A 15" x 10.2" (38.5cm x 26cm) courier bag holds, a cutting mat, traingle, long rulers, plastic scalloped rulers, big stencils, etc. (see next photo)

 

These and more fit in the courier-bag. The cutting mat protects the stencils from breaking.

Left to right: File with inspiration, spiral portfolio with sketches, Inspiration, lessons, etc. I do a lot of planning using index cards (I.C). As we mostly camp off grid, I have to plan very well. I download many of my inspirations on my tablet.

My Creation Station.

I mostly do scrap-booking, make Tags, Hatpins and Mixed Media in my Happy Place.

In the winter I work upstairs in our home office, so that I have more natural light, it is warmer than My Craft-room, which is in the basement and I am closer to my family.

 My most used supplies and tools are on the table, a good standing lamp for when it is cloudy and a lazy Susan with more supplies and tools. I use my magnetic (Inspiration) board on the wall to plan and photograph my layouts. (More about my Magnetic board.) 

On my left is my Råskog, which also holds many supplies and on my right is a
portable table.

I got my Råskog cart from Ikea, but similar carts are available from Michael's, Walmart, etc.

 Ikea sells Bygel containers, Antonius divided organizers and Wire Mesh Pencil Holders, which work well with the Råskog. Wire Mesh Pencil Holders are also available from Dollar stores, but Ikea’s fit nicely in the Antonius baskets. The Antonius is slightly smaller than the Råskog basket, but one can tuck things in at the back and the basket also prevents them from slipping down.

 

Some of my Bygel containers are different colors as I got them second-hand, the one's holding my heat gun (Paint stripper tool) and glue Gun are plastic milk pitchers from the Dollar store. My Favorite wood mounted rubber-stamps are in the top-tier in an Antonius basket.

 

Most of my sprays are in the second tier, a magnetic basket with colored photo corners is attached to the side and I keep rags in the Bygel containers.

 

I found this painter’s bucket at a dollar store, it hooks over my cart and has space for my glue gun and glue sticks.

 

My favorite paints are in the bottom tier and I store my Paper trimmer under the tier.

   

I traced some of my templates with a permanent marker on opaque flexible plastic cutting board sheets as used for cooking. I got them at a Dollar-store. I then cut them out, punched holes in them with a hole punch and hung them from a shower curtain ring. They hang on a Magnetic hook form the Raskog. I have added some portable shelves for more supplies, tools, etc.
It is amazing how much you can have within easy reach in a small space with careful planning.

 I store Stickles, Distress inks, glitter/glue, etc. in Vanity Organizers for lipstick and nail polish. I store them upside down, they fit better and it helps keep the nozzles clear. Scrap-booking Hints.

This was a Thrift-store find. 

A 3 tiered wire rack in a tray on a Lazy Susan, which holds small supplies tools, etc. 

The wire baskets are from Ikea and Dollar-stores. 

The top-tier holds Emory boards (which I use for sanding painted surfaces and distressing), small scissors, etc. 

Center is sticky notes, (used for masking) erasers and photo-corners. 

Bottom tier holds Adhesive, eye-shadow applicators, etc.
In the tray at the bottom are my punches.

The stainless steel containers with photo corners are from Dollar-stores.

When it's too cloudy to work I do Scrapbook planning and filing.

Organizing Family Photos.

My interest in Genealogy started with my Father, who interviewed my Grandmother in the old age home, before she passed away, about her family.

My Grandmother  had an incredible memory and kept a lot of photos, documents, negatives and mementos, which my Dad passed onto me.
 

I scan the original in color, even if it is monochrome, then I save a copy as adj. which I work with, otherwise I have to scan the original again, when I go overboard with Photoshop, which I have done.

He kept meticulous notes which I copied.

 I have stored the original photos chronologically into archival safe photo albums, including as much info as I have. The photos are numbered and copied onto a list. Many photos had no information, which left me with some Orphans. 

I use a K and Company-SMASH Collection-Pen and Glue Stick-Black, which is Archival and acid free.

I have printed restored copies of most, they are in the same albums, with notes that they are copies. I also sent many of the copies to my father. If there is information on the back of the photo, I scanned
that as well.

   

 Original photos and copies in an album, when I have scrap-booked a layout, I print a copy of the layout and include it with the photos. I used some of these photos in my "At the Beach" layout.

I turned a copy of the photo into a sketch and added numbers, to identify the people in "Family Gathering".

I keep small photos in Sport Collector sleeves.

I also had problems with printing small square photos, as they were cropped, due to the ratio. Some Kodak Picture Kiosks have a print full photo option, but you have to select it.

 

One of my albums with negatives in sleeves. I also have boxes filled with negatives.

 

 I scanned most of the photos and negatives on an Epson Perfection 1260 Flatbed scanner, which was my first scanner and has a 35 mm adapter for slides and negatives, but unfortunately Windows does not support the drives anymore. The back up files are on external drives and in the cloud.

 

We have a good camera and a light-box, but some of the old negatives are thick, so that does not always work either.

 

This is a photo of a negative on the light-box. The camera is mounted upside down on a tripod. You can unscrew the plate at the end of the center column and slide the tube out, reverse it and feed it through from underneath. I use a remote so that I'm not blinded by the light from the fluorescent tubes. The negative is inverted with Adobe Photoshop.

I think Drugstores and Camera stores can also scan negatives.

 

 I print the most important documents, family trees and information and file them according to surnames.

I use free online family trees like Geni.com and I belong to many Genealogy Facebook groups and pages.

 

Through research and sharing I have discovered many interesting things, that I did not know. There are so many stories. I don't think my mother knew her mother's real names. Once I discovered my grandmother's real names, I could trace the families to the progenitors. I was even able to find more photos of her and her family online. There is also sad history about wars, concentration camps, prisoner of war camps, death of siblings, etc. Our grandparents never spoke of this as it was too painful. We have to gather the good and the bad before it is too late. All and much more was discovered through research.

How to create/Make Secret group in FaceBook

I have secret Family Facebook groups, which I share photos and info with. My son is admin too all. I have received photos and information through these groups.

 

 I have a free private blog at Wordpress, which my son is also admin, I have uploaded most of my photos, documents and info to this blog. It is searchable and a great help.

 

I have scrap-booked many of the photos, which I photograph and share on my blog, Facebook, Instagram, Scrapbook.com, etc.

 

I use Pinterest to keep track of my Genealogy links.

I have added some photos to online family trees, but I have found that some people download them on their computers and upload them to their own family trees on other sites, so I have added a copyright symbol to them.
